Mission Haiti: 2017 Newsletter

“I always appreciate the enthusiasm, zeal, love and harmony between the missionaries and the rest of us. I feel that we are one. We have only one purpose, that of serving God through the teaching that is given to children. This year my favorite part of camp was the music activities.” ~ Myrlande (CEF)
“I love the games, the music, the food and playing with all the kids.” ~ Young male camper
“Every year we have a good time at camp. I tell all my friends about it and we come together. This year I played the recorder for the first time in my life and I enjoyed it very much. My friends played volleyball and did the sack race. Last year my other friend sewed a skirt and I wear it sometimes. Can we have camp for two weeks next year?” ~ Young female camper
“It is always a joy to see you and all the missionaries every summer. You work so tirelessly with the kids. It is a blessing that God sent you in our community to do all the great things you do. I pray that God will give you the strength and courage to continue to do such important work. I also pray this ministry will grow and that you return every year. God bless you!” ~ Mother of campers
Since 2010, Mission Haiti through Calvary Baptist Church, has been able to faithfully work with churches, schools, orphanages, community organizations, Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF-AEE), and the Haitian people, in working towards a newer and better Haiti. Mission Haiti strongly believes that: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving - Colossians 3:23-24.
For the past four years we were blessed to run our summer camp ministry with thousands of children of all ages. This year was especially exceptional. as we felt the presence of God, guiding and blessing us more than ever. With a team of thirteen devoted and faithful missionaries, ranging from teenagers to seniors, the Lord showed us His love and mercy. Hannah, Jeremy, Zachary, Cathy and Billy Boyd, Jonathan, Camille and Peter Archer, Phyllis Cross, Ernst and Islande Dupoux, Clodine Levy, and Eleth Ann Watson were blessed to have been part of this mission trip. God shone His face upon us despite the trials and tribulations. May the mighty name of God be blessed!
We serviced a five-day camp that included over 500 campers in the following ways:
1) CEF leaders and trainees led bible studies bible related activities with the children. by the grace of God, fifty-five children gave their hearts to the Lord.
2) The praise team, under the direction of Dr. Peter Archer, led worship daily. The team comprised of Rodia, Bebe, Sandra, Myrlande, Ketelie, Peter, Cathy, Camille and Jonathan.
3) Dr. Peter archer taught over 80 children to play the recorder, and the drums.
4) We held our first volleyball tournament, which was organized and led by Hannah, Jeremy, and Billy Boyd. It was a great success, as the children not only learned to play a new sport, but also enjoyed themselves greatly.
5) Phyllis, Eleth, Mrs. Pyram, Ketele, Edris, and Ernst led art & crafts which included beading, embroidery, sewing, drawing, crocheting, and more.
6) Camille, Cathy and Clodine taught children how to make musical instruments from scratch.
7) Islande, Clodine and Bibi (coach) led games such as jeopardy, and bible trivia.
8) The team provided different types of medical care to children and adults.
9) We shared gifts such backpacks, school supplies, health and hygiene kits, clothing, sports apparel, shoes and more.
On the last day of camp, we exhibited all of the artwork and pieces that the children made, and held our first concert where the children played songs that they learned from dr. archer. it was a pleasure to see the campers amaze us with their newfound talents. You would think that we were at Carnegie Hall as we had our very talented volunteers participate in the concert as well. thankfully, Zach our videographer, was able to capture all of these special moments!
This summer God manifested Himself in Aquin in incomprehensible ways; all the participants’ testimonies prove it. Many campers expressed to us that have regained a sense of hope for the future because of God’s love and promises. Volunteers expressed their feelings of inspiration and overwhelming sense of God’s love. God gave us the vision to travel to Haiti and help those in great needs and see the world outside of our norm. He wanted us to love others unconditionally, affectionately, give without counting the cost, labor without expecting any reward except to know that we do it all for His glory. Mission Haiti prays to develop stronger presence in the years to come, and work in all communities around Haiti. By the grace of God, we will share the love of God, and positively impact many lives and souls for His glory.
