Mission Haiti: 2011 Report
August 2, 2011
Growing up in Haiti, I watched my parents serve in Haiti as church missionaries, public servants, humanitarian, and great role models. During my teenage years, I was blessed to serve alongside them on the national and international levels. As an adult, I contemplated following in their footstep while acknowledging their love for Christ, their enthusiasm for their missions and others, but also value their exemplary work and their legacy.
Haiti has been one of the most troubled states in the western hemisphere; it has seen its share of financial, political, and natural disasters. However, as the first black republic nation in the world, the Lord has continuously come through for it, and its people. Haiti looks forward to a better and brighter future.
From June 22 to June 29 of 2011, I had the privilege of traveling to Haiti with a mission delegation composed of Anthony O. Pratt, David F. Babick, Jean David Michaud and Clodine Levy. We had the opportunity to meet and work with wonderful people in the Western, Southern, and Northern regions of the country; they were faithful people like us who strongly desire to rebuild Haiti through determination, perseverance, and love.
During our journey, I saw the glory of God everywhere: in the people living in the makeshift tents; the orphan girls in the orphanage, The men, women, and children at the Immaculée Conception Hospital in Les Cayes. Although God gave us the vision to travel to Haiti and help those in great need; I believe that He primarily called on us to be compassionate stewards and obedient children. He wants us to see the world outside of our comforts; He wants us to love others unconditionally, affectionately and give without counting any cost; work without seeking; rest and labor without expecting any reward except that of knowing that we do it all for His glory.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ took us to Haiti and by His grace and mercy brought us back safely to report on His wondrous love.
